Timothy Lee Coates

Timothy Lee Coates, 66, of Abbeville, Alabama, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula, Alabama.

            Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2 P.M., at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Toole officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing.  The visitation will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the funeral home.

            Born November 28, 1958 in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Coates was the son of the late Harvey Lee “Pete” and Martha Jenkins Coates.  Tim grew up working on the family farm in Henry County.  He married Faye Cumbie in 1977.  He was an Optician with his father at Coates Optical in Montgomery, Alabama and he then started farming.  He loved baseball, hunting and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Armstrong and his brother-in-law, Mike McNeil.

            Survivors include his wife of 48 years: Faye Cumbie; his son: Tyler (Audrey) Coates; his daughter: Keely Coates (Dexter) Price; 3 grandchildren: Eden Coates, Brayden Price, Maddie Price; 1 brother: Charlie (Sandy) Coates; 1 sister: Renee McNeil; 3 nephews: Chance Armstrong, Brian Coates, Landon McNeil; 1 neice: Krystal (Kenny) Hawkes; his uncle: Roger (Linda) Coates.

            Pallbearers will be Tyler Coates, Landon McNeil, Chance Armstrong, Yair “Junior” Mendez, Keith Davis, Tony Davis and Brandon Coates.
