Shirley Jean Johnston, 80, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Monday, June 15, 2026, in Eufaula.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 12 Noon, at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Toole officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. until Noon at the funeral home.
Born August 9, 1945, in Eufaula, Alabama, Mrs. Johnston was the daughter of the late James Brady and Lucy Kate Clements Eldridge. Mrs. Johnston was a graduate of the Eufaula High School Class of 1963. She was a graduate of Troy State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She retired from the Eufaula City School System after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years James Francis Johnston, Sr.; her brother Thomas Brady Eldridge and 2 sisters Lydia Kay Eldridge and Mary Jim Galamore.
Survivors include 1 son: Jimmy (Joel) Johnston; 1 daughter: Lisa Johnston (Jeff) Lee; 4 grandchildren: Drew Tyler (Ashley) Wilkerson, Kyle Brandon Phillips, Katelyn Olivia Johnston, Anna Kate Lee; 3 great grandchildren: Lillie Kate Wilkerson, Emerson Wilkerson, Beckham Wilkerson; 2 sisters: Sue Stafford and Elsie (Huey) Lee.
