Graveside services for Mr. Richard Arlin Blevins age 85, of Jacksonville, FL., formerly of the Pleasant Hill Community, will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 3 P.M. at The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Eufaula, Alabama. Rev. Woody Brown will officiate with Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Mr. Blevins died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his residence. Born December 22, 1938, in Fort Payne, Alabama., he was the son of the late Russell Benjamin and Nela Ann Clark Blevins. Richard was a graduate of Baptist Bible institute. He was a pastor in Alabama and Georgia from 1968-1985. After retirement from the ministry, he joined the public school system in Fort Payne, Al. When he retired in 2000, he and wife Joan moved to Eufaula to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Richard (Pete to some) enjoyed reading, laughing, and reminiscing. He also loved to work outdoors, especially if a tractor was involved. He loved hearing his wife sing in the choir, enjoyed his grand- and great grandchildren and was always willing to help anyone. But he hated to ask for help.
He was dearly loved by many. Especially his family. He will be so missed.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Blevins; daughters Elaine Wombolt and Karen (Terry) Walker; grandchildren Marie (Matt) Crawford, Wendi Henderson, Curtis (Sarah) Walker, Zack (Abigail) Wombolt, Jake (Ashlynn) Wombolt; great grandchildren Sean Wombolt, Oliva Wombolt, Cole Wombolt, Claire Wombolt, Hayden Walker, D.J. Crawford, Julia Crawford, Christopher Henderson, Chloe Bell; brother Carl Blevins.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
