Mary Delle Padgett passed away on July 17, 2025. She was 84 years old.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 3 P.M., at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held from 2 P.M. until 3 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mary was born November 11, 1940, in Clayton, Alabama, to the late Jamie and Lee Ella Blakey Bowden. She was the youngest of five children. Mary was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, and over the years, served in numerous roles. She always enjoyed cooking and sharing her dishes with others. Her friends, family, and church members especially enjoyed the goodies from her candy making skills. In her younger years, she was employed at Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Clayton. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, but her greatest accomplishment was caring for her young granddaughters. She was a hands-on grandmother who enjoyed being an integral part of their lives and becoming a great grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Sanders; husband, Calvin Padgett; son-in-law, Chip Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernestine and Horace Parmer, Dimple and Willie Ray Zorn, Libby and Bobby Brown; brother and sister-in-law, James Wes and Helen Bowden.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Larry) Colombo and Vicki (Amy) Sanders; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Kelly) Shaw and Shelby (Stevens) Copeland; great grandchildren, Cash Copeland, Austen Copeland, and Lynleigh Shaw; special friend, Pat Hutto; special cousin, James Oree Hagler; and numerous deeply loved nieces and nephews.
Asked to serve as pallbearers: Steve Brown, Stevens Copeland, Blake Green, Ric Green, Mike Padgett, Jay Parmer, Morgan Parmer, and Kelly Shaw.
