Karen Adele Benefield Bowden, 68, of Clayton, Alabama, died Sunday, August 3, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11 A.M., at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Don Highland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Born March 20, 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia, Karen was the daughter of the late Julian Tharrell and Bernice Maurine Abercrombie Benefield. Karen loved Alabama football and spending time with her family. She worked at the Courthouse in Clayton for 15 years. She enjoyed babysitting and she worked as an EMT with Clayton Rescue. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Keith Benefield.
Karen is survived by her husband of 44 years: Charles F. Bowden, Jr.; 2 sons: Kevin (Jennifer) Bowden and Jason (April) Bowden; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Kim (Sharon) Benefield and Kelly (JoLynn) Benefield.
Active pallbearers will be John Bowden, Joshua Knight, Jimmy Knight, Andrew Hartzog, Mike O’Hearn and Cyrus Dunn.
