John Richard "Ricky" Spiva, 70, of Eufaula, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by family.
Celebration of Life services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M., in the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born February 26, 1955 in Rome, Georgia, Ricky was the son of the late John Dewey and Mary Ann Ross Spiva. He married his wife Pam on January 16, 1974. For 37 years, he devoted himself to his work as a maintenance supervisor at Mahrt papermill. If something was broken, Ricky could fix it, and if he couldn't, he'd figure it out by morning. After his retirement, Ricky lived a life rooted in the simple joys that brought him the most happiness: his 1973 Ford Bronco, winding backroads through the North Georgia mountains and spending time with his best friend and chosen brother, Skeeter Cody.
Ricky is survived by his wife of 51 years: Pam Spiva; his children: Lee Spiva and Nichole Spiva; his granddaughter: Shelby (Graham) Haney; his sister: Becky Cook; his nephews: Page McDonald and Jeremy (Erin) Duke; his great-nephew: Grayson Duke; his great-niece: Everly Duke.
