Jan H Kennedy

Jan H. Kennedy, 69, passed away on May 11, 2026. A career educator, Jan began teaching at Mock Road Elementary in Albany, Georgia. After moving to Eufaula, Alabama, in 1996, she continued her work at Eufaula Elementary and Eufaula Middle School. She was a dedicated teacher who took great pride in the success and growth of her students.

Jan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula. An eighteen-year lung cancer survivor, she was a woman of remarkable resilience. Her quiet determination defined her character and allowed her to remain a constant and steady presence in the lives of her family.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Harris, and her brother, David Harris.

She is survived by her husband, Gus Kennedy; her sister, Donna Bragg; and her sons, Carson Macolly and Tripp Macolly; stepdaughter, Courtney Ball and stepson, Michael Kennedy. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Logan Macolly, Ashlin Macolly, May Macolly, Eva Macolly, Jake Ball, Jay McCray and Mac Kennedy.

Jan will be remembered for her quick wit, keen sense of humor, and mischievous nature, which brought light to those closest to her. To honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 1 P.M., at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula with Rev. Chris Wilkinson officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing.  The visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon until service time at the church.
