James Loyde Weaver, 85, of Georgetown, Georgia, died Monday, March 31, 2025, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11 A.M., CDT, at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Drexel Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia at 4 P.M., CDT, with Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M., CDT, at the funeral home.
Born July 6, 1939 in Stephens County, Georgia, Mr. Weaver was the son of the late George Washington and Alberta Anderson Weaver. Loyde worked so hard all of his life. He worked his early years pulp wooding and then driving for Makenzie Tank Lines. He worked as an electrician with Flour-Daniels Construction for many years. After he moved to Georgetown, he started his lawn service and worked until he was 81 years old. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 65 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to fish and hunt and he enjoyed watching westerns, wrestling, NASCAR and football. He loved to sit on his back porch in his rocking chair, holding his dog Rudie (who he called "son"). He loved his family with all of his heart.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years: Margaret Weaver; his children: Debbie Baker, Barbara Weaver, Bo (Sheila) Weaver, Billy (Tracey) Weaver, Rick (Lora) Weaver; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Sue Morris and Shirley Griner.
Pallbearers will be Richard Weaver, Chandler Weaver, Brad Weaver, Andrew Cheek, Casey Paulk, Jonathan Baker, Jeffery Greene, Chris Crouch and Ryan Harris.
