James Lafayette "Jay" Houston, III

James Lafayette "Jay" Houston, III, 83, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Eufaula.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11 A.M., at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Horner conducting the eulogy.  Burial will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M., prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  Chapman Funeral Home directing.

Born June 23, 1942 in Eufaula, Alabama, Mr. Houston was the son of the late James Lafayette and Frances Elizabeth McKenzie Houston, Jr.  He was a Viet Nam veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Green Beret and he was a veteran of the Alabama National Guard.  He retired after 35 years with AT&T.  He had served as a Boy Scout leader in Pompano Beach, Florida and in Eufaula with Dr. John Hagood.  He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  His hobbies were model trains and anything with Legos.  Jay was preceded in death by his sister Clyde Houston.

Survivors include his son: David (Jada) Houston; his daughter: Jennifer Houston; 3 grandchildren: Chris Newton, Micaela Houston and Anna Houston; 2 great grandchildren: Abbi Newton and Holden Newton.
