Frank “Frankie” Barefield, 78, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, at 2 P.M., at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Tony Willis and Rev. Chris Toole officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens with Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the church.
Born November 18, 1946 in Eufaula, Alabama, Frankie was the son of the late Willie Frank and Mildred Kathleen Campbell Barefield, Sr. Frankie graduated from Eufaula High School in 1965 as Salutatorian. He graduated with honors from Southeastern University in 1969. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Troy University. He worked at American Buildings and was a Computer Programming Instructor at Wallace Community College for 32 years. He was Director of IT (Information Technology) and Director of Institutional Effectiveness. He was involved in many Eufaula Recreational programs. He was a member of the Eufaula Zoning Board and a member of the Country Club of Alabama Homeowners Association. Frankie was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School, served as Youth Choir Director. He served on Mission Golf Tournaments and was a worship leader.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Karen Whitehead Barefield; 1 brother: Keith (Lisa) Barefield; 1 sister-in-law: Sharon Barefield; 6 nieces: Carrie Perkins, Lindsey (Will) Ceaser, Lauren (George) Weaver, Brooke (John) Bryan, Madison Perkins, Leslie (Colin) Dillard; 6 nephews: Colby Perkins, Kris Barefield, Jason (Crystal) Smith, Billy (Brittany) Barefield, Keith Barefield, Jr., Bryan (Diana) Apodaca; several great nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Kris Barefield, Billy Barefield, Keith Barefield, Jr., Ricky McGilvary, Wayne Barefield, Glenn Whitehead, George Weaver and Will Ceaser.
