With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Eden Jade Coates, who left this world on April 18, 2026, at the tender age of 18. Born on May 31, 2007, in Troy, Alabama, Eden brought immense joy and love into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She passed peacefully at home, encircled by the love and warmth of her devoted parents, Tyler and Audrey Coates.
Eden was a cherished daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her loving parents, Tyler and Audrey; her grandmother, Faye Coates; her great-grandparents, Steve and Marty Sturgill; her aunt, Katie Leach; and her cousins Madison Whiteaker, Brayden Price, and Maddie Price. She also leaves behind her adored fur babies, Oliver, Cotton, Marshall, Moose, and Sully Mae, and a large extended family of great aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eden is now reunited in eternal peace with her grandmother, Donna Millbauer; grandfather, Tim Coates; and great-grandmothers, Kay Sturgill, Martha Coates, and Bobbie Cumbie.
Eden was a proud graduate of Eufaula High School's Class of 2025, where she made lifelong friendships and created beautiful memories. She was an enthusiastic volleyball player, dedicating six years to the sport she loved. Eden spent two years as a member of the AMMS Lady Admirals and four years with the EHS Lady Tigers, where her team spirit and determination shone brightly.
Eden worked as a sales associate at Red’s Boutique, where her vibrant personality and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on her colleagues and customers alike. She was known for her infectious smile and her unique ability to make everyone feel included and valued, often lightening the mood with her quick wit and sassy comments.
Eden's life was filled with laughter, love, and faith. She delighted in attending concerts, traveling to new places, shopping, playing games like Farkle and Bunco (where her competitive side always showed), and having her favorite movies on repeat. She appreciated the simple beauty of sunsets, flowers, impromptu dancing sessions, and cherished moments making memories with the ones she loved. Eden had a special place in her heart for babies, relished trips to the beach, particularly during the Fourth of July celebrations, and lake days, where she would spend her time tubing and soaking up the sun. Above all, Eden's unwavering faith in the Lord guided her through life, and her compassion and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
A service to honor and celebrate Eden's remarkable life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 125 South Randolph Street, Eufaula, Alabama, with Chapman Funeral Home directing and Rev. Chris Toole officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, Columbus Hospice of Georgia & Alabama, or the Eufaula High School Volleyball program, reflecting Eden's passions and the causes she held dear.
Serving as pallbearers will be Audrey Coates, Tyler Coates, Madison Whiteaker, Dusty Helms, David Bush, and Matt Hughes.
Eden Jade Coates will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of light and love, as she journeys home on angelic wings. May her soul find eternal peace and joy in the arms of her Savior.
