Donald Ray "Don" Williamson

Donald Ray “Don” Williamson, 86, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at his home.

            Graveside services will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10 A.M., in the Clayton Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hines and Rev. Jim Hill officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing.

            Born March 29, 1940, in Clayton, Alabama, Don was the son of the late Walter Jones and Lessie Bea Kennedy Williamson.  Don worked as a teenager at the theater selling popcorn.  He also had a paper route.  He graduated from Clayton High School in 1957.  After school he worked at Van Huesen for about 16 years.  He then worked at American Buildings for 35 years, retiring in 2009.  Don was a member of Cross Baptist Church in Eufaula, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher and over the brotherhood.  Don was preceded in death by his son Walter Lee “Buster” Williamson, his brothers Bill Williamson, Robert Williamson, Walter James Williamson and Gerald Williamson, and his sisters Grace Smith, Ruth Leyva and Betty Joyce Harden.

            Survivors include his wife: Mary Williamson of Eufaula, Alabama; 2 daughters: Donna Faye (Ricky) Glover of Baker Hill, Alabama and Darlene (Delane) Jones of Cottonton, Alabama; 3 grandchildren: Zackary A. (Dawn) Knight, Jayme L. (Anthony) LaMotta, Jeremiah J. (Hannah) Tapley; 8 great grandchildren: Scarlet Knight, Lily-Anna Knight, Paul Knight, Layla Harris, Piper LaMotta, London LaMotta, Cale Washington, Katherine Tapley; several nieces and nephews; 1 special nephew: Bob Williamson; 2 brothers-in-law: Billy Hicks and Jerry Hicks; 1 step-son: Curtis Blankenship; we give God all the glory for his special caregivers Bill Hicks and Kim Moody.

           Honorary pallbearers will be Delane Jones, Ricky Glover, Zackary Knight, Jeremy Tapley, Kenneth Williamson, John Williamson, Bill Hicks and Curtis Blankenship.
