Curtis Redding, Sr. Obituary

Curtis Parham Redding, Sr., age 92, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, and

formerly of Georgetown, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Affectionately known as “CP” by his family and many friends, he was born on September 8,

1932, in Hatcher Station, Quitman County, Georgia, to the late Curtis Lowe Redding and Ora

Inez (Green) Redding.

CP was a man of unwavering character, known for his commanding presence, generous

spirit, and fierce devotion to those he loved. He was admired for his kindness, strength, and

integrity.

He had a passion for all types of hunting, traveling cross-country with his wife, spending

time with his family, and a lifelong love of woodworking—creating lasting pieces and

cherished memories through his craft.

A true entrepreneur, CP pursued a wide range of ventures. He owned and operated a

logging company for over 25 years. Concurrently with his logging career he owned and

managed a country store and bait shop. Later he owned and operated a local grocery store,

a restaurant, and was active in real estate.

He was committed to improving lives within his community, serving on more than 13

boards and commissions, often as Chairman. CP tirelessly advocated for better education,

healthcare, and public services across the Chattahoochee Valley. His dedication, vision, and

work ethic left a lasting impact.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Lowe Edmonds.

CP is survived by his beloved wife of almost 74 years, Annie Ruth (Holmes) Redding;

daughter, Vickie Turner (David Gatch) of Prattville, AL; sons, Curtis Parham “Bubba”

Redding (Dawn) of Cuthbert, GA, and John Melton Redding (Amanda) of Baton Rouge, LA;

sister, Gail Redding Corlee (Leonard) of Georgetown, GA.

He also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Amy, Jessica, Max, Curtis, Alex, Jesse, and

Benjiman; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and

nephews and numerous cousins.

CP and Annie Ruth proudly hosted the Redding Family Reunion in Georgetown for 50

consecutive years, reuniting generations with joy and pride.

A man of purpose, heart, and enduring love for his family, CP will be deeply missed and

lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
