Barry Lee Smith, Sr.

Barry Lee Smith, Sr., 79, of Abbeville, Alabama, died Monday, June 1, 2026, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 Noon, at Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hines and Rev. Jim Hill officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing.  The visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. until service time at the church.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Cross Baptist Church.

Born October 7, 1946 in Eufaula, Alabama, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Noah Lee and Ethel Waters Smith.  Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing and Alabama football.  He was a Deacon at Cross Baptist Church and he loved his family.  He was preceded in death by his brother Larry Edward Smith.

Survivors include his wife: Janice Smith; his children: Barry "Buddy" Lee (Dee) Smith and Michael Shane Wellington; 3 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Leigh Smith, Summer Wellington, Bailey Wellington; 5 great grandchildren: Grayson Smith, Kayleigh Smith, Elliott Amaury Wellington, Dahla Katana Wellington, Marsean Briair Wellington; 1 sister: Patricia (Jonah) Clance.
