Anthony Rodger Kott, 68, of Georgetown, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 3 P.M., CDT, at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10 A.M., CDT., with Chapman Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the Masons.
Born December 23, 1955 in Houston, Texas, Rodger was the son of the late Anthony Louise and Mary Lougean Holton Kott. Rodger was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served in Search and Rescue in the Great Lakes Region. He was discharged with the rank of Machinery Technician Petty Officer Third Class (E-4), with a 100% service related disability. He also served in the Army National Guard. He had worked for the railroad and retired as a Superintendent in construction.
Rodger was a member of the Eufaula Lions Club and was a past District Governor. He was the Chairman of the Barbour County Wildlife Management Area Youth Hunt as well as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Harmony Lodge #46 in Eufaula and the Masonic Lodge in Dothan as well.
Survivors include his wife: Ellen W. "Pat" Kott; 1 son: Anthony Rodger (Ivey) Kott, II; 2 grandsons: Cayden Phillip Kott and Login Joshua Kott; 2 sisters: Connie Kott Pruitt and Robin Hurst; 1 brother: Daniel Kott Bowen; 6 nieces: Shelly Crawford, Nicole Cook, Morgan Broddy, Candice Bowen, Victoria Harris and Kylie Carter; 7 nephews: Vincent Pruitt, Tyler Bowen, Allen Clanton, Camdon Cook, Cainan Cook, Brandon Fullard and Samuel Pruitt; "special daughter": Sharon (Kim) Benefield; "special grandson": Hayden Benefield.
Pallbearers will be Aurora Thomas, Richard Reed, Gerald Henderson, Camden Cook, Rotimi Onaghise and Hayden Benefield. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lions Club.
