Anita Parks Obituary

Anita Lucile Carpenter Parks, 77, died in faith of eternal life with her Lord on May 29, 2024.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 A.M., at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Rod Verella will officiate with Chapman Funeral Home directing.  The visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. until service time.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ServantCare, servantcare1@gmail.com or the Gideons.

Born June 1, 1946 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Parks was the daughter of the late Gene Edward and Lucile Elizabeth Nielson Carpenter.  The oldest of three girls, Anita grew up in Ruthven, Iowa and married her high school sweetheart, Larry Parks, in 1964 before moving to Atlanta, Georgia where they were born again in 1970.  During their time in Atlanta, they served as house-parents at Christian City Children’s Home.  In 1984, God moved them to Columbus, Georgia and in 1992, He moved them to Eufaula, Alabama where she departed.  She will be returned to her hometown of Ruthven, Iowa to be laid to rest.  In every location, she loved sharing Jesus.  For 24 years while in Eufaula, she and Larry joyfully served as the directors of ServantCARE, Inc., a ministry to missionaries, pastors and those in ministry.  Anita’s middle sister, Janet Schnell, preceded her in death in 2018 and her youngest sister, Jeanine Wichman (widow of Roger) is still living in Iowa.

Anita and Larry were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Angela Schwartzberg (widow of Steven) and April Rivera (Erick).  She loved being their mother to the very end.  Anita was also blessed with a granddaughter, Kimberli Graves and a great grandson, Landon Graves.  Anita had many spiritual daughters and a few spiritual sons.  She loved them all.

For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me in that day, and not to me only, but unto all them all also who love His appearing.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  KJV
