Born September 18, 1941 in Chambers County, Alabama, Mrs. Parker was the daughter of the late Emory "Jack" Nonus and Virginia Belle Newman Hayes. Mrs. Parker was a devoted mother, faithful wife, caring sister and loving grandmother. She had a servant's heart for the Lord and served in many roles within the churches to which her family was led to serve, such as pianist, organist and singing in the choir. However, her real spiritual gift was serving beside her husband in behind the scenes roles such as working in the nursery and working in the kitchen. Her down-to-earth sense of humor and dry wit functioned as an essential part of the ministry as she related to people and made them feel comfortable. To know her was to love her. She was a member of several precious churches but most recently, Parkview Baptist Church. She enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, painting, singing in the choir, playing the piano and organ, but by far, her favorite activity in all the world was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years: Dr. Herman Parker, 3 sons: David (Ashlie) Parker, Steven (Christie) Parker, Tim Parker; 5 grandchildren: Ali Parker, Slade Parker, Jackson Parker, Cole Parker and Morgan Parker; 2 sisters: Kaye Owen and Gail (Ralph) Peavy.
Active pallbearers will be Jackson Parker, Cole Parker, Slade Parker, Jeff Owen, Mark Owen, Scott Peavy and Chad Jones.
